I have a passion for design, creativity and education. an artist, an educator, and creative arts consultant whose work spans the areas of interior, event consultant and design, exterior design (landscape), education (staff training in best teaching practices including testing and measurement and curriculum and measurement, most importantly, I Am a practicing ceramics artist and a college Professor of ceramics, in Southern California. My work can be described as sculpturally aesthetic ceramics vessels of utilitarian value.
My education.
I have done both a Bachelors and Master’s degrees in art. Her Bachelor’sdegree is from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, (UNIBEN)while my Master’s Degree is from California State University, Fullerton, Orange County, California, (CSUF) in the area of Ceramics. She also holds four credentials in Education; namely a Professional Clear Multiple subject credential from California State University, Dominguez Hills, California, A Clear Administrative Services Credential from San Joaquin Office of Education and The Los Angeles County of Education, Project Impact, A Literacy Specialist Credential from The University of Irvine, California and a Supplementary Authorization in Art.
I AM A TEACHER
I have taught in inner-city schools for 30 years, teaching both art as well as other academic subjects. I spent the first two years as a Middle School teacher in Inglewood Unified School District, interned in elementary school at Los Angeles Unified School Districts Carson Street Elementary. The remaining twenty-eight years, were spent teaching in the specialized unit of the Juvenile detention centers of The Los Angeles Probation Department as a Juvenile Halls and Camps teacher of The Los Angeles County Office of Education, Juvenile Court Schools under the Division of Students Programs.
I AM AN ARTIST
I have designed and organized weddings, landscapes, interiors and has also exhibited work in shows, galleries and competitions. My sculptural ceramic vessels have been featured in both the Los Angeles Times (LA Times)as well as The Orange County Register. I am passionate about what I do, whether it be in Art, interior, exterior design including event consultation and design, educational consultation and staff training.
My Ceramic works include sculptures of all kinds, typically known as sculptural ceramic vessels because of my unique technique of sculpting as I build. I work with multi-media, off and on the wall sculptures and draws inspiration from my ethnic background as well as from artists like Bruce Anabrakpeya, Clary Nelson Cole, Salvador Dali to name a few. I have done custom commissioned pieces for people’s homes and enjoy teaching whether it be as a coach, conducting and organizing workshops, exhibits, awards assemblies and ceremonies and fairs. I am a true educational consultant whose passion in giving back to the community is My ultimate goal. I enjoy expressing My creativity and vision in the Arts and in education. I am Leo, a naturally born leader.
I provide and bring a wide range of abilities and experiences to the table. I Am great at programming and building sustaining programs, ventures and ideas from start to finish.
